

One day International Workshop on ‘Instructional Design: Context Based Learning’ was organized in our college. It was inaugurated by Dr. Shivinder Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot (Punjab). The resource persons for this workshop were Professor Roberta Altman from Bank Street College of Education and American Museum of Natural History, New York (USA) and Mrs. J. Kiran Ghera Principal Doraha College of Education.
The first session of workshop began with the candle light ceremony and the formal presentation of bouquets and memorable tokens of love. Almost 50 fifty delegates from different states, schools and colleges and thirty students from Dasmesh Girls Sen. Sec. School, Badal attended the workshop. First of all keynote address was given by Professor Roberta Altman and then the Chief Guest Dr. Shivinder Singh addressed the audience.
After tea break there was an interaction session with the students and they were taken to the field trip after dividing them into three groups. One group that included delegates and students was taken to the Kinnu washing, processing and packaging unit and second group was taklen to a construction site and third group was taken to a park and play ground. There the students observed the surroundings keenly and noted down each and every thing by using their five senses. They asked questions and gave their suggestions to make these surrounding a better place. After lunch technical session began with the teachers and delegates asking their suggestions and views about their observation of student learning. In the second technical session Dr. Kiran Gera and Prof. Robert Altman interacted with delegates about national curriculum framework and to use natural things and community resources in our daily teaching. She also told us to use Indian crafts and personal objects in teaching and learning effectively.
Everybody enjoyed the workshop and the way Prof. Robert was interacting with the delegates. She was full of energy and enthusiasm throughout the workshop. In the end Principal Dr. S.S. Sangha thanked the guests and all the delegates from schools and colleges.
